The Therapeutic Power of Animals

We recently worked with LifeStriders to promote their mission of “helping our community one stride at a time.” LifeStriders uses Equine-Assisted Therapy, counseling, physical therapy and the Alzheimer Intervention Program to provide life-changing experiences to those with special needs. LifeStriders creates a stress-free zone for its participants to reconnect with nature and begin to heal from whatever ails them, whether its PTSD, physical or mental disabilities or just the stress of life. “Nature grounds us,” and LifeStriders has created the perfect place for anyone to make “life strides.”

According to the New York Times in a recent article about the soothing power of animals, “the tactile element alone in animal therapy releases endorphins, so called feel-good hormones that counteract the trauma hormones…” Through their work with children and adults, LifeStriders is helping hundreds of people experience the joy of human-animal interaction.
